heat shrink :
offers more heat protection however, it is very stiff in cold temperatures, and when Harnesses are short in length. 
Braid:
Not as much heat protection, but night, and day difference when it comes to flexibility. If you live in a cold climate, or would like your harness to be as flexible as possible, braid is what you were looking for.
